The South Philly Vikings
Four decades of imagination, inclusion and unforgettable shows.
The South Philly Vikings are a nonprofit member of the Philadelphia Mummers and have marched in the Fancy Brigade Division since 1986.
From the beginning, the club was willing to move tradition forward. The Vikings were among the first brigades to welcome women as both performers and full members, and they became known for ambitious storytelling, precision choreography, elaborate sets and new technology.

1989–1996
The wow factor arrives
Two more consecutive wins completed the club’s first three-peat. In 1995, “Rumble in the Mighty Jungle” raised the bar again with powerful choreography, elaborate scenery and huge props—the unmistakable Vikings “Wow Factor.”2002–2007
A new era of innovation
Pete D’Amato took the captain’s reins in 2002 and brought fresh energy to the organization. First-place finishes in 2005, 2006 and 2007 delivered another three-peat and one of the strongest runs in Fancy Brigade history.2010
A national stage
After an NBC casting director discovered “Apocalypse 2110,” the Vikings advanced directly to the live rounds of America’s Got Talent and reached the Top 48—introducing the club’s spectacle to a national audience.Today
